Propose to revert the suggestion of CAC having possibly developed abiogenically
[edit]CAC's "central importance to many biochemical pathways suggests that it was one of the earliest components of metabolism and may have originated abiogenically."
This language was introduced here supported by a reference to Nick Lane's "Life Ascending." While I haven't read the book, I'm skeptical it supports the claim. Eden hochbaum (talk) 19:09, 10 April 2023 (UTC)

Figure - Overview of the citric acid cycle. The picture is not correct: coenzyme Q (electron transport chain) should be FAD. Maikel Peppelenbosch, Erasmus MC, Rotterdam 156.83.1.18 (talk) 11:26, 19 September 2023 (UTC)
- Ubiquinone is the correct substrate of the enzyme known as succinate-coenzyme Q reductase or succinate dehydrogenase. Genome42 (talk) 23:01, 1 February 2024 (UTC)
- The isocitrate dehydrogenase reaction is not correct. There is no free proton produced so the products should be 2-oxoglutarate + CO2 + NADH. The correct reaction has been displayed for more than half a century on the standard entries for this enzyme (see "EC 1.1.1.41". Expasy. Retrieved 2024-02-01.).
- Same for 2-oxoglutarate dehydrogenase (alpha-ketoglutarate dehydrogenase) (see "EC 1.2.2.105". Expasy. Retrieved 2024-02-01.). Genome42 (talk) 23:25, 1 February 2024 (UTC)

Citric acid cycle → Krebs cycle – per WP:COMMONNAME
see the ngrams: https://books.google.com/ngrams/graph?content=Citric+acid+cycle%2CKrebs+cycle&year_start=1800&year_end=2019&corpus=en-2019&smoothing=3 Abo Yemen✉ 16:22, 12 December 2023 (UTC) — Relisting. Bensci54 (talk) 17:43, 19 December 2023 (UTC)
- Oppose. If you want to use ngrams as evidence of common name use all synonyms of the article like this. By this metric, TCA cycle should be the title. By Google Scholar results TCA cycle is also the most used term, but the others are used enough that you could argue that there is no predominant common name and each are used interchangeably. ― Synpath 19:17, 13 December 2023 (UTC)
- Comment: I advise referring to case-insensitive ngrams, for obvious reasons. The picture is dramatically different. Adumbrativus (talk) 03:53, 14 December 2023 (UTC)
- Why is the toggle designed that it looks like it is turned on, when it is actually off. Changed my link, thanks! ― Synpath 06:34, 14 December 2023 (UTC)

- Oppose per case-insensitive ngrams. --Yorkporter (talk) 08:10, 20 December 2023 (UTC)
